Continuous, Systematic and Purposeful Civilian Killings are barbaric and War Crimes. OLF Condemns the series of Air Strike in Civilian areas

The Prosperity Party’s Regime and its security and military apparatus have intensified the killing of peaceful civilians. We again call the UN and International Community to discharge their duties and Responsibilities.

Records have in it that we regularly exposed and called up on the IC to take action against the Ethiopian Regime’s continuous, systematic and purposeful civilian killings.

On October 19, 2022, in West Wollega, in Sasigga District, a small town called Tsige, Armed Amhara Regional State extremists supported by the Federal Forces killed nine civilians and wounded three others.

On October 20, 2022, the Federal Government Airforce conducted an air raid in most areas of Oromia. In West Showa Zone, Metta Walikte District, and Minare town, 70 km from Finfinnee (Addis Abeba), an air strike killed and injured innocent civilians. Among the victims are three people from a single family.

On October 22 and 23 2022, a Mig 29 air raid in Eastern Showa Zone, Fantalle District; Western Showa Zone, Metta Waliqite, and Gindeberet Districts; and Eastern Wollega Zone Nunnu Qumba District has been intensified, and many civilians died and wounded. In many of these places, houses and other belongings of the victims, especially livestock, which are the basis of their livelihoods, were reported severely destroyed. The air raid is reported to have continued in East Showa, Fantalle area on October 22, 2022. It was difficult to get the exact number of casualties in from all areas.

We call that the Regime’s brutal action against civilians must be stopped. The international community has the responsibility to act against such barbaric killings by a regime that refused to care for the lives of citizens. As stipulated in its Human Rights instruments, charters and other conventions, the UN must discharge its duties and responsibilities to conduct an independent investigation and bring the perpetrators to justice.

Thus, we call upon the UN and International Communities to break the silence on atrocities in Oromia and save the lives of innocent civilians.

Victory to the Masses!
