\nOLF Statement – January 24, 2023
\nIn Amhara Regional State, Oromiya Special Zone, Wallo, a coordinated attack by the Amhara Regional
\nGovernment Security Forces restarted afresh. Oromo People living in Amhara Regional State have
\nrepeatedly suffered death, eviction, and torture at the hands of government security forces and the
\nresponsible government structure in the area has never taken remedial action.
\nOn January 21 2023, Amhara Regional Government Security forces and the irregular group Fano armed
\nwith heavy weapons opened attacks on the Oromo farmers, burnt their houses into ashes, forced many out
\nof their homes, and killed several others. In the last three days, more than 65 innocent civilians were killed
\nby these brutal forces. On January 23, 2023, 39 civilians whose names were identified were executed. On
\nthe same day, Oromos travelling back from Finfinee to their home village Wallo were intercepted around
\nShaw Robit at a place called Karra Jajjabaa, and after identifying them to be Oromo, sixteen of them were
\nbrutally assassinated. OLF condemns this brutal killings fi unarmed civilians. The war is spreading to the
\nwhole district of Jiillee Dhumuga to places such as Wasan Kurkur, Kollash, Allaalaa Dirrichi, Kunde,
\nWaahcuu, Baalchii, Walakko, Goodaa, Atayee and Sanbate. Death, displacement, and property
\ndestruction are increasing at an alarming rate.
\nThe OLF calls up on all Oromos in Oromiya and worldwide to stand by and support their kins in Wallo.
\nOromos in Wallo have been subjected to the most brutal subjugation, killings, destructions and
\ndisplacement since they were forcefully invaded and made the vassals of the Ethiopian ruling groups.
\nThey survived to this day with their tears and blood. Oromos should support their kins in any form
\npossible. It is time to show your solidarity and readiness to support, in any form possible, your brothers
\nand sisters in Wallo.
