Letter from Shekacho

February 10, 2006 (Shekacho) - A good opponents of current regime in the shekacho area have been arrested within last two weeks. Mr. Ayele Angelo Ago and Mr. Birhanu Haile who were the parliamentary candidates during the last may election and campaigned and both won the site. However, the EPDRF regime rigged the ballot and declared a winner. Since then they were targeted and intimidated. Finally Birhanu was abducted in the last week of January, whereas Ayele was also abducted on the 6th February 2006. Ayele is now being held in Federal prison in Addis Ababa and Birhanu's where about is not known.

We have sent letters to Amnesty international and International Red Cross. As you may know the suffering and struggle of minority groups in Ethiopia goes unnoticed, as the majority of population within the empire are only busy working only on the issues affecting their constituencies.

I think unless the major nations such as the Oromo's speak out about the injustice by the ruling agents on behalf of the minority groups, the tyranny will continue to exist in that empire state. Most settlers in our area, Shekacho land are Amhara's and they always run Menelik's politics of land grabbing and domination. They do not speak out and even are happy when the minority rights are deprived, the only fill the void. But we all stay in wasteland where nothing changed for centuries. I think the Oromo struggle will have meaning if you spoke out for all the minorities and got their unlimited support. As you said united we win. My suggestion is please if you have open minded representatives in the UK, let us get to together and plan how to work to together and inform our people about what is happening and what is going to happen.

With regards
