January 27, 2006 (andnetwork.com) - 10 Ethiopian soldiers who arrived in Eritrea opposing the TPLF regime said that it is perpetrating acts of repression against the population. They further explained that a number of soldiers are abandoning the regime and fleeing to destinations of their choosing.
The defecting soldiers are Temam Omar Roba from the Oromo ethnic group, Addisu Mengistu Gutema , an Oromo, Abdu Mohammed Ali, an Afar, Tadele Mandelo Maleda from Debub Hizboch, Abebaw Sium Belhu from the Amhara ethnic group, Tilahun Alemu Bereda from the Gurage ethnic group, Endeshaw Derbe Tilahun, an Amhara, Beyene Babso Fato, from the Sidama ethnic group, Yemane Yaine Alemayehu, a Tigrayan, and Miruts Desta Kahsai, also a Tigrayan.
