Ethiopian [Woyane] Regime Continues to Arrest Oromos : At least 3 have been apprehended from Finfinnee

(OLF News, January 1, 2009). Our correspondent from Finfinnee [Addis Ababa] reported that the TPLF controlled regime of Ethiopia continued to arrest Oromos in Finfinnee. Accordingly the following people are known to have been apprehended, taken to the notorious Maikelawi Mirmera prison, and tortured.

  1. Mr. Tolessa Wolde Sibilu (a legal Defence Lawyer/LLB, 65), arrested on December 25, 2008
  2. Mr. Mammo Lulessa (a teacher, 65), arrested on December 25, 2008
  3. Mr. Tamiru Qana’aa (a business man in Finfinnee), arrested on December 27, 2008

While it is told that many Oromos have been arrested, our correspondent is able to report only these three individuals due to the difficult situation under which OLF correspondent is operating in Ethiopia, and in the capital Finfinnee.

It is to be recalled that OLF News has reported the intensified wave of mass arrest of Oromo nationalists, in the months of November and December alone, at least on the following occasions: on 12/15/2008, 12/12/2008, 12/08/2008, 12/04/2008, on 11/24/2008, on 11/20/2008, on 11/12/2008, on 11/18/2008, on 11/14/2008, on 11/12/2008, on 11/11/2008, on 11/08/08, on 11/06/08, and on 11/02/08. In addition to these mass arrests, OLF News has also reported a shocking killing of 13 Oromo farmers in Northern Oromia on 11/17/2008.
