Several Hundreds of Oromo Prisoners in Ambo and over 1600 others in Ciroo town Starving.

(OLF News, June 21, 2009) Several hundreds of Oromo prisoners in Ambo town of Western Shoa zone and more than 1600 other Oromo prisoners in Ciro prison of Western Haragee zone are reportedly severely starving due to lack of food at the prison and also are exposed to disease due lack of sanitation in the two prisons, our sources from inside of the two prisons revealed. It is known that there are several thousands of Oromos languishing in known and unknown (undesignated) prisons in all zones and all counties in Oromia and almost all of those prisoners are people apprehended from their houses due to allegations of supporting and/or having contact with the OLF and OLA (the Oromo Liberation Army). Accordingly, several prisoners who became ill as a result of malnutrition and the lack of sanitation are denied medical treatment and are at risk of losing their lives.

The current TPLF-led regime in Ethiopia is notoriously known for not only beating, torturing, and killing Oromo prisoners in the prisons, but also by exposing them to illness and death by denying them food and necessary medical treatment.

In a related news, over 70 Oromo prisoners of Dirre-Dhawa town are reportedly languishing an indefinite jail time because the Federal court is always extending their time in prison by postponing their trial again and again.
