Union of Oromo students in Europe, Belgium (UOSEB) have organized successful demonstration on the human right abuse in Oromia

A peaceful demonstration organized by the Union of the Oromo Students in Europe, Belgium (UOSEB) branch was successfully made on 30th June 2008 from place jean rey (front of the European parliament) to berlaimont (in front of the European commission) in Brussels, Belgium.

The main objective of the demonstration was to protest the Ethiopian government backed Gumuz militia attacks on the civilian Oromos in west Oromia, in which some 400 men ,women, children's and elderly have been murdered in a way shocking to explain.

The demonstrators accused the continues and horrible  human right abuse by the Ethiopian government on the Oromo ,and other nationalities in Ethiopia and the horn of Africa.

The participants came together  from western Europe including Germany, Nederland, Switzerland, Belgium and more. To cite some of their slogans:

On the way to marching seven (7) different teams were visiting influential offices of  the European parliament, European commission, European council and the Belgian authority with an appeal document containing the current incident, the basic extrajudicial killings and human right abuses of the past 18 years of the TPLF government. Officials from the European parliament were  personally before the demonstrators to receive the appeal letter and delivered hopeful message to the participant in explaining the draft law being prepared towards the Ethiopian government and the open door the UOSEB have in giving the inputs of  the law.

The participants were briefed by Dr. Mezgebu, the ex-MPE Dr.Getacho Jigi, Oromo elder and woyane prison victim Obbo Tilahun, Adde Makiyya and Ex-president of the Ethiopian university students union Hunde Dhugassa. After the brief the demonstrators committed themselves to work together to topple the dictatorship of Meles government in any possible way they can. After promising to meet regularly until human right is respected in that country the participants went home with peace and success.
