Oromo uprising against tyranny

April 12, 2006 (Oromia) - On April 12, 2006, the uprising of the Oromo people continues in Shashamannee and kuyyara, Arsii Zone. During this uprising, students from elementary school, high school, and Healthcare College have jointly staged demonstrations. OLF flag was raised for four and half hours (4:30) and the tyrant regime symbol and flag was taken down.

During this uprising, the students and residents of these areas have chanted:

  1. We demand the right of self determination for the Oromo people.
  2. We are not willing to be ruled by tyrant regime of Ethiopia, OLF is our vanguard and true representative of Oromo people.
  3. We demand the release of all Oromo political prisoners immediately and unconditionally.
  4. Stop the massacres of the Oromo people etc...

As usual, the TPLF agents have called for back up of military forces from Shashamannee and Awasaa and are now intimidating and harassing the local Oromo residents.

On April 11, 20006, in Hara Maayaa University, Oromia, there were clashes between Tigray and Oromo students. As a result, the students from Tigray origin joined by defense force members and have caused sustained body injury and made damage to campus cafeteria utensils during the fight.

The Oromo students joined by other ethnic groups and have put up counter defense against Tigray students and military forces. Until this report was obtained, the school was remained closed.

Members of surrogate organization, OPDO, have now joined their fellow Oromo students that support OLF at Bahirdar University. They have reached on common consensus to work for their people right and have collected and burned the ID card that have issued to them by OPDO and vowed to do the best they could for their people with fellow Oromo.

In Shaambuu, Wollaga Zone, Oromo uprising have renewed again. Since the uprising, many have lost their lives and the Oromo people have put up a stiff resistance against tyrant regime. The uprising is continues in this area with great determination till the right of Oromo is respected. The schools in this area have remained closed.

On April 11, 2006, in Auruu, Wollagaa (chech) Zone, three Oromo students were killed and many have suffered sustained injury from live ammunition of government forces during the uprising. Students in Shaambuu and surrounding have promised to continue their stiff resistance against repressive regime until their natural right is respected.

In conjunctions of student unrest in Hara Mayaa University, there are wide spread of arbitrary arrest in Harar zone. Accordingly, there are arbitrary arrests of the Oromo people in Hirna, Ciroo, Baddeeysaa, Galamsoo, Macharaa, Miccataa, Bordoddee, Gubbaa Qorichaa and Harawaacaa. Despite these arrests, the uprisings have also continued in Dirree Dhawa and Adaree.

In similar news, in Iluu Abbaa Booraa Zone, the TPLF forces have searching residents house from door to door with out due court process or warrant under pretext of OLF or OLA forces have entered this zone.
