April 11, 2006 (Oromia) - Since April 07, 2006, the uprising of the Oromo people have been continues in western Hararge Zone, Oromia. This uprising is coinciding with anniversary of surrogate organization, OPDO as they have been striving to celebrate their anniversary. Our heroic people are refused to be part of this falsehood representation of ODPO. Accordingly, the indiscriminately imprisonment of our people continues as our people refused and protested the anniversary celebration of ODPO.
Widespread imprisonment continues in Hernia, in Rakkataa Furaa area, and Odaa. The government security and military forces have searched individuals’ houses and looted personal belongings. In Hirna, about 100 people were imprisoned without due process of court in the pretext of OLF sympathizers. Similarly, in Galamso and Machaaraa, indiscriminate and arbitrary arrest continued. 1000 Oromo people have been jailed during these house-to-house searches and languishing in prison cell. Looting personal belongings are looming by government officials and military forces.
Reports reaching us also indicate uprising against tyranny in Ciroo and Baddeessaa town is also gaining momentum. The Oromo people in western Oromia have also called upon all Oromo people across the Oromia, to intensify their resistance against this regime and also called upon Oromo criticizes that works for Wayne military forces to turn their gun against the enemy of Oromo people and refrain themselves from killing their own blood.
