December 13 , 2006 ( Toronto, Canada) – A successful and a historical cultural night took place on November 25, 2006 in the city of Toronto in which members of the Oromo and Eriterean communities had fun and shared experiences. The purpose of this cultural show was to enhance the existing cooperation between the Eriterean and Oromo Communities, and to donate the proceed of the fund raising event to support the struggle of the Oromo people.
Among the distinguished guests who participated in the cultural show included: Oromo nationalists who reside in Toronto, Ottawa and our Eritherean friends from Toronto.

Prior to commencing the cultural show, our distinguished guests addressed the audience: while the two Oromo community leaders elaborated on the common historical legacies of the Oromo and Eritherean people, the leader of Mul’is Abbaa Gadaa O.L.F. chapter also spoke about the solidarity that existed between the Oromo and Eritherean people. Similarly the vice president of the Oromo Community Association of Toronto welcomed the Eritherean community members and assured them that our community association would be happy to work with the Eritrean community to create solidarity between our two communities in Toronto. The chairperson of the Eriterean Community association of Toronto expressed his gratitude for the invitation and urged the Oromo community to work together by exchanging experiences to serve our communities better.
The role of Kamar youssuf and his musical trope in entertaining the audience was impressive. In particular, two female members of the cultural trope performed so well by dancing to “Qamar’s shaggoyye” and “ragada” and were applauded by the audience. The participants also danced to the Eritrean music and had fun. In sum, this event was a success and memorable one.
