LOOTING CITIZENS' PRECIOUS COMMODITY IN THE NAME OF CONTRABAND

March 25, 2006 Commodities valued at around 2.95 Million US Dollars have so far been misappropriated from the Ogaden citizens in the first eight months of this year alone. This has been revealed by an investigate analysis carried out by Radio Freedom reporters in Ogadenia.

The only justification given by soldiers in misappropriating these precious commodities from the needy Ogaden citizenry is contraband. It appears that 'contraband' is the name given by both the militia as well as the other illegal Ethiopian agencies in order to loot the much needed commodities being transported to Ogadenia from far places as there is no meaningful commerce happening between Ethiopia proper and Ogadenia.

Misappropriated commodities traced by our reporters consist of electronic goods, second hand clothing meant for resale to the naked and needy citizenry, medicine for people as well as for the livestock, chemicals destined for the privately run laboratories, and beauty products.

It seems that Ogadenia is the not the only place where this looting of the much needed commodity is taking place. Oromia is also facing this looting in the name of contraband. Furthermore, the Capital city Addis Ababa and the business hub of Nazareth appear to be targeted as well. Our investigators unearthed that this public looting of commodity is a well-orchestrated plan meant to harm both the psyche as well as the purse of the citizens of Ogadenia in particular and those in Ethiopia in general.

It is irony that at a time when the world community is attempting to help the citizens of Ogadenia and Ethiopia to ward off the effects of the man-made famine that the Ethiopian regime is busy looting much needed commodity trucked from chaotic Somalia.
