Oromo Students Expelled From Haramaya University
It has been reported that Oromo students have been expelled from their studies simply because they protested against being called by a derogatory name given to the Oromo by successive minority Habasha ruling cliques, and demanded respect for their human rights.
Fellow students from other backgrounds have condemned the action taken against Oromo students by Haramaya University administration. They have affirmed that no one can change their identity.
The Senate of the University has decided that 31 students should be expelled permanently. Sixty students are languishing in prison whilst seventy are being hunted down. It has been confirmed that one hundred and sixty students are suffering at the moment and the situation will get worse.
Past experiences at various Universities show that there is a policy of excluding Oromo from education. Those people who do not want the Oromo to be educated are using various tactics to provoke students and get them expelled from their studies.
The expelled students from Haramaya University are:
1. Ermias Tesfaye Dhaba
2. Demisse Nagasa Kuma
3. Temesgen Tibuma Garoma
4. Kadir Adam Hamo
5. Waqjira Imiru Fida
