Geri Moti, American born wife of Tassisa Moti of Minneapolis, Minnesota ( USA) died on Monday, September 11, 2006.

Geri stood by the Oromo people for over three decades, sharing all their trials and tribulations as well as the joys and agonies. She was an ardent supporter of OSA and contributed a tremendous time and effort as a member of OSG, distributing its newslettes and tirelessly advocating for human rights.   In addition to her involvement in strengthening the Oromo community in the diaspora, Mrs. Moti took interest in the welfare of Oromo youth who have been victimized by war and became helpless as a result of massive human rights violations and natural disasters.  She has been instrumental in raising and educating several helpless children who are currently successful and productive members of their community. Geri was a staunch supporter who spent a substantial portion of her life, energy and wealth in advocating for the Oromo cause and human rights.   Please join us in conveying our condolences to Tasisa, the quintessential Oromo, and Kulani, her only daughter, and friends. She will be greatly missed. Although she will not longer be with us physically, her memory will live with the Oromo nation forever.
